Zapier connects the apps a business already uses. Its agents work across more than 9,000 apps, on command or while the team is offline1.

Best for: Businesses that want AI and automation to connect the apps they already use, without replacing any of them.

Not the right fit for: Owners who want a finished assistant out of the box; automations and agents still have to be designed and maintained.

What Zapier does

Agents can be given company knowledge and built with the help of Zapier Copilot; chatbots answer questions from FAQs, documents and links1. Inside automations, AI steps, AI fields and AI enrichment are available from the Pro plan, and the Zapier MCP server is available on every plan, with each tool call using two tasks2. Zapier reports that millions of companies use it, though its own page gives two different figures1.

Pricing scales by tasks. The free plan includes 100 tasks a month. Pro starts at $19.99 a month on annual billing for 750 tasks, and Team at $69 for 2,000 tasks and up to 25 users. Agents are billed separately in activities, from 400 a month on the free plan; annual billing is a third cheaper than monthly2.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • Reaches more apps than any other tool in this guide, so existing systems stay in place.
  • A free plan, then published prices that scale by task volume.
  • Agents and chatbots are billed separately from automation tasks, which keeps the two budgets visible.

Limits

  • Approval steps for agents are not described on its agents page.
  • Costs scale with task volume, and overage is billed at a multiple of the base rate.
  • Someone in the business has to design, test and maintain each automation.

Choose another option if: You want AI teammates with their own inbox and phone working inside one system (OpenLazarus), or a personal assistant for inbox and calendar (Lindy).

Pricing

Published (USD a month): Free with 100 tasks; Pro from $19.99 annual or $29.99 monthly for 750 tasks; Team from $69 annual for 2,000 tasks and 25 users; Agents add-on from about $33.33 a month on Pro.

Questions to ask before choosing Zapier

  • Who in the business will design, test and maintain the automations?
  • How many tasks and agent activities will our volume use each month?
  • Which steps should wait for a person, and how will we build that in?
