Best for: Businesses that already run on Microsoft 365 and want AI inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.

Not the right fit for: Businesses on Google Workspace, or those that want AI to run work outside the office apps.

What Copilot Business does

Copilot works inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, summarising email, drafting documents, analysing data and capturing meeting notes. Microsoft also describes agents that handle whole workflows, such as onboarding or inventory tasks. Copilot respects the organisation's existing security and compliance settings, and Microsoft recommends buying it alongside a Microsoft 365 Business plan⁠1Microsoft 365 Copilot Business: the future of work for small businessesMicrosoft · 2 Dec 2025.

The add-on stays at $21 a user a month after 1 July 2026. Bundles from that date are $28 with Business Basic, $35 with Business Standard and $43 with Business Premium, all per user a month on yearly payment. Strengths and limits

Strengths

• Works where Microsoft 365 users already spend their day.
• Respects the organisation’s existing security and compliance settings.
• Published per-user price, with bundles that include the Microsoft 365 plan.

Limits

• Best bought alongside a Microsoft 365 Business plan; outside that environment it adds little.
• Agents are described in general terms on the pages we read.
• Promotional bundle prices ended on 30 June 2026.

Choose another option if: Your business runs on Google Workspace (Gemini), or the work to automate sits outside documents and email (OpenLazarus or Zapier).
